Your D-day is just around the corner! There are so many things to be done to have that perfect wedding that you have dreamed of. So much shopping, invites to be sent, a venue to be booked, catering to be decided, dressed that you would need to wear…..are we forgetting something? Apart from all this, the most important factor of that ideal wedding look is your skin. And we’re sure that just like any other woman out there in the world, you would want to be the perfect bride there has ever been.

But with the number of deadlines you have been chasing and the burger and pizzas that you have consumed over the years, it must have surely affected your skin majorly.
Worry not dear beauties, we have come up with some tried and tested skincare routines that you can start following to get that glow that everyone talks about.
1. Start early
It’s suggested that you start a good bridal skincare regimen around a year in advance for glowing skin if you really want to get your skin in top shape. If you don’t have too long until the wedding day, it’s okay to just follow some healthy bridal skincare routines as quickly as possible. A perfect way to practice some self-care is to start or revamp a wedding beauty regimen, giving you the chance to de-stress before your nuptials.

2. Schedule regular appointment for facials
A good time to start having monthly facials is 6-8 months before the wedding. Before using any product on your face, always get your salon expert to patch test the items. Talk to them before the facial if there are any particular skin conditions that you want them to fix, so that they can prescribe the best products for you. The deep cleaning and hydration that prepares your skin better for makeup are provided by facials. Don’t forget to reserve those indulgent bridal spa treatments!

3. A healthy diet is the key
Because what you eat reflects on your skin is no surprise. The first pre-bridal tip, therefore, is not about following any extensive regimen for bridal skincare, but about selecting the right diet for you. Consume more fresh vegetables and fruits, indulge in organic nuts, switch to green tea, and, most importantly, significantly cut on artificial sugar, packaged food, and alcohol. To plan out a customized diet plan as per your requirements, you can visit a dietician.

4. Stay Hydrated
Oily, dry, natural, or a combination of both, our skin craves water no matter what the skin type is. So listen up brides, you’ve got to drink 2-3 litres of water per day. Water helps flush out contaminants, removes acne, keeps your skin hydrated and supple, decreases wrinkles and fine lines, helps you lose weight… it’s practically a magic potion that gives you perfect skin! Water is essential, but snacking on water-based foods, like a watermelon, that is naturally hydrating also works.

5. Don’t skip on your beauty sleep
Fine lines, puffy eyes, dehydration, and dark, patchy skin can result from stress & lack of sleep. Dark circles under your eyes are the last thing you want on your wedding day. We, therefore, suggest that you get into the habit of sleeping every night for around 8 to 10 hours. Why do you think they called it beauty sleep?

6. Make sunscreen your best friend
You must brave the sun every day as a busy bride-to-be. Tan lines, wrinkles, and premature aging are caused by excessive sun exposure. We want you to ensure that every time you step out, you don’t forget to apply sunscreen that is ideally suited to your skin. Use a thick balm with SPF 30 to keep your lips hydrated, especially if you spend lots of time outdoors, particularly in windy, sunny, or cold weather.

7. CTM – Cleansing, Toning, Moisturizing
Although often overlooked, to get that perfect glow, cleaning, toning and moisturizing are crucial. Dry, flaky skin looks quite terrible and acts as the ideal cakey makeup palette. Anything good begins with hydration that is continuous and consistent. With a herbal face wash, wash your face and follow up with some toning with rose water and moisturizing. To leave your skin clean, natural, and stunning, your bridal skincare routine must have a regular CTM routine. Always consider the condition of skin & choose the right products for bridal skincare.

8. Apply face masks
It is good to periodically apply face packs to preserve your facial glow. All-natural face packs containing components such as Multani Mitti, honey, aloe vera, and so on can be used. They strengthen the appearance, enhance the texture of the skin, and are soothing. All these months, you have worked hard for your skin and now it’s time to relax and maintain your hard work. These should be routinely applied & should not be a last-minute choice to get the beautiful bridal glow.

9. Take care of those mast mast do nain
Eyes are a window to the soul and on your wedding day, you will want your eyes to reflect the joy and happiness you are feeling inside. As part of your nighttime skincare routine, add an eye cream tailored to your skin. In order to minimize puffiness, you can also use some super hydrating cucumber slices and a DIY cooling eye mask! Proper sleep will do the rest of the magic, so make sure you’re getting your beauty sleep.

10. Maintain those chittiyan kalaiyaan and haath
Your hands are another asset that will receive tons of attention in all your wedding functions. Start getting regular manicures and taking care of the nails. And don’t forget to use a hand & nail cream regularly, if you’re a working woman. You can use almond oil to massage your hands and nails every day which will not only make your nails stronger each day but also make your hands soft. If you have flaky skin, make a DIY scrub with sugar and almond oil and scrub your hands regularly.

11. Go natural
Another way of detoxing your body is to start using natural products. All the chemicals that have been absorbed by your body from the use of cosmetics over the years need to be flushed out. Switch to using all-natural products that will benefit your hair and skin 3-4 months before the wedding.

12. Build a nightly routine
We’ve seen a surge in people starting to follow the Korean skin routine for better glowing skin. Not saying that you should also start doing the same; see what suits your regime. For example, you can start simple by brushing your hair before going to bed (increased blood circulation) or using skin-toning face packs. You’ll be surprised how well your skin will respond once you start following a routine, especially at night. Always remember to CTM!

13. Lighten the stretch marks
To all the brides that have been facing the problem of weight fluctuations all their lives, we’re sure you must have acquired stretch marks. To lighten these marks, start massaging olive oil or a good anti-stretch mark lotion months before your wedding functions start. Follow a strict routine and you’ll see its effects really soon.

14. Body massages and exfoliations
To increase blood circulation and remove dead skin cells, start having regular massage and exfoliation sessions. Massages are a great way to de-stress and tone the sore muscles. Exfoliation will be helpful in removing the dirt and dead skin cells from your body and making it supple and glowy. These sessions should ideally start 1-2 weeks before the wedding functions however, it all depends on the type of skin and results you want from this procedure.

15. Don’t forget the reshmi zulfey
Hair is the crowning glory of any woman and it is also one of the most feminine parts. Being a working woman, excessive stress and pollution can make your hair dull and lifeless. And due to our busy schedules and deadlines, it’s understandable that you may not give them enough attention. As part of your routine, you should absolutely have a couple of hair spa sessions a few days before your wedding. A rejuvenating hair spa will bring back the shine by cleansing and hydrating them.

16. Scrub those elbows
Elbows are ignored most of the time but they should become an essential part of your skincare routine. The best way to make the elbow smooth and remove the darkness is by rubbing some lemon and sugar on it. It will remove the dry and dead skin cells and make the area softer. Or look up any DIY methods by which you make this area as supple and smooth as other parts of your body. Regular exfoliation and moisturizing will work wonders.

So now that you have the answer to the most asked question by the bride ‘How do I take care of my skin?’ it’s time to implement these tips in your routine and get that flawless skin you’ve been wanting ever since. Our @VenueMonk team is awaiting your response on how following the above routine ideas helped to get the ultimate skin.
