Keep the following checklist handy to decide on the message that should be printed.

1. The host of the function

The first thing to decide is on whose behalf invites for the guests will be drawn up. Although some Indian designs contain the names of both grandparents as the main invitees, while others mention parents as invitees with a subtext mentioning the names of the grandparents as co-invitees.
One current pattern that we are seeing today is that the couple become the main hosts, and parents and grandparents are co-invitees on marriage invitations.

2. Salutation of the hosts

There are different forms of greeting that we often use in Indian wedding invitations when referring to the people. You can choose between Mr. & Mrs., Shreeman & Shrimati Ji, or Shree & Smt abbreviations when referring to parents and grandparents. And while you determine this, consider the size and design of the font for the names that will appear on the invitation card.

3. Include a quote or a verse from your holy book

If you want to use fancy wordings, get on the internet to find a special quote that you believe will be best to suit your marriage and personal views. A poem, a sentence, a quote or even a popular film dialogue can be your wedding invitation quote. The most known trend is to include a verse from one’s holy book just at the top of the invitation card.

4. Bride first or the groom?

If the wedding cards are separate from both sides, the decision of whose name goes 1st becomes quite obvious. However, if you’ve decided to have a joint invitation, it should be a mutual decision. And ideally, the bride’s name comes first followed by the groom’s name in the wedding invitations.

5. Invite the guests

This is the main or primary line that sets the tone of the invite and is used just after the name of the hosts. You can use “at the marriage of their daughter/son” “would love for you to join them” “invite you to celebrate with them” for an informal tone as the primary line. Or use “Solicit your gracious presence on the auspicious occasion of the wedding”, ” Request the pleasure of your company”, “Request the honor of your presence at the celebration of their son’s / daughter’s marriage” for a more formal and respectful tone.

6. Details of the function

This section includes all the details that are important for the function such as venue details, ceremonies, muhurat timings for phera and bidai, lunch/dinner/reception details. Make sure that that the venue address is as detailed as possible and includes any well-known landmarks for the guests to reach easily.
The font size and design should be used as per the details you want to highlight. For example, the venue details should be in bold along with the timings of the important ceremonies.

7. Point of Contacts

Ensure that the names of the people going on the invitation card as point of contact have voluntarily given their names and will be available to take any calls on the day of the event.

The marriage invitation cards should be made in consultation with the elders of the family on both sides. One should not forget to follow the traditions while trying to be modern and trendy. The use of font size, color, and design should be used keeping in mind the readability and the background color of the card. The attention to such minor details will make your invitation card beautiful, elegant, and informative.
