The youngest of the Dangal Phogat sisters, Sangeeta Phogat, recently had a winter wedding on 25th November 2020. She got married to the world’s number one wrestler Bajrang Punia with whom she was in a relationship for 4 years.

Geeta and Babita Phogat had previously known Bajrang since they are from the wrestling fraternity. Sangeeta met Bajrang at SAI center where he used to train from where they started talking and enjoying each other’s company. It was is a no brainer that soon they fell in love. With no issues from either Phogat and Punia family, they finally decided to take the next step in their relationship and announced their marriage in August.

For their wedding pheras, Sangeeta and Bajrang followed the footsteps of the previously married Phogat sisters and took 8 pheras. The 8th phera was taken as a vow for ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign. The pre-wedding function and marriage ceremony were held in Haryana and were carried out with full precaution and safety measures followed for COVID-19.

The Haldi Ceremony

The celebrations kickstarted with the Haldi ceremony which was performed in their hometown. Sangeeta wore a mustard sharara suit and paired the ensemble with floral jewellery. Her sisters, Geeta and Babita Phogat along with other family members also followed the tradition and wore yellow outfits. 

She exhibited the traits of a traditional yet modern bright which can clearly be seen in the pictures.

The Mehandi Ceremony

On 24th November 2020, they had the mehandi ceremony with a full flair. The bride wore a green brocade lehenga and looked happy as ever. She flaunted her beautiful mehandi with her soon-to-be-husband Bajrang’s name on her 1st finger. 

Even for this ceremony, she wore white and pink floral jewellery which surprisingly complimented her green lehenga.

The excited and happy groom, Bajrang Punia wore a white kurta-payjama with a brown Nehru jacket.

The Wedding Ceremony

The wedding was held on 25th November 2020 with the guest list comprising of very close family members and friends. Sangeeta ditched the cliche red lehenga and adorned a multi-color threadwork fuchsia pink lehenga by Kalki Fashion. The color was paired with a pale powder blue net dupatta. The gorgeous lehenga was complimented by mathapatti, choker, maala, nath, heavy earrings all in emerald and gold as well as bridal chura. 

Her amazing minimal style makeup was done by Sonika Phogat of makeupbysonika and the wonderful hairstyle by Jitender Kumar of jeetumakeupandhair.

Bajrang was seen wearing a beige sherwani with a red safa.

She also wore the traditional green glass bangles that are typical of the Haryanavi culture. The photographer Affinity Wedding was highly successful in capturing the couple’s chemistry and ceremony highlights.

The wedding ceremony was simple with plain yet elegant decoration for all the ceremonies. For all the function pictures that Sangeeta uploaded on her social media, she hash-tagged all the images with #SaRang, which is a combination of both their names. Can we get an ‘awwww’?
