From Christian Wedding To Sikh Wedding; This Couple had a Destination Wedding In Malaysia Amidst Beaches and Shores.


While the prospect of finding your future soul mate on Instagram or Twitter sounds like a Disney movie, we found a story where it happened in reality. Mayank and Kiren have a similar story to tell. Kiren shares, “Mayank and I met quite unconventionally.” They saw each other’s profile on Instagram. While chatting online, when they fall in love even they don’t know. They fell in love with each other without meeting in person.

Mayank requested to meet Kiren but she declined and told him that they will meet only when he is serious about this relationship. Every girl has a dream of a fairy tale proposal. Kiren’s dream turned into reality when Mayank proposed to her. Mayank kept the proposal simple and sweet. He made sure the ring was designed according to Kiren’s taste. The ring was simple and as she desired, engraved with the nickname he gave her, Dr. Perfect.

MEET THE COUPLE

Wedding Ceremony

Kiren’s mother practiced Christianity and always wanted to see her daughter walking down the aisle in a beautiful white gown. They kept the ceremony a close-knit one with about 100 guests, and it was held at the prestigious Tournament Players Club, Kuala Lumpur. The bride walked down the aisle with her brother, It was a very emotional moment for her. Following the ceremony, everyone joined them on the dance floor. They served their guest’s authentic Malaysian cuisine to give them a feel of the country. For this occasion, Kiren chose a strapless white dress with a long embroidered veil and Mayank kept it simple in a navy blue tuxedo.

Haldi Ceremony

A poolside Haldi ceremony filled with colors and laughter, Kiren’s Haldi was held at her building’s clubhouse. Most of them dressed up in yellow. They had so much fun applying Haldi that they ran out of turmeric paste and that was how the ceremony came to an end. Mayank’s Haldi was a traditional Hindu ceremony and the groomsmen wore identical tee shirts with his picture and the duo’s wedding hashtag on them. It was a very enduring and intimate ceremony.

Chooda Ceremony

Chooda and Kaleerey ceremony is a significant ceremony at a Punjabi wedding. The chooda is possibly the most important accessory that a bride wears during her wedding. Kiren’s chooda ceremony was held at her family’s home in Selangor, Malaysia. All her uncles and brothers took turns to put her ‘chura’ (bridal bangles) on and bless her. For this ceremony, Kiren picked a red and mint green lehenga with golden embroidery which she paired with a choker and matching earrings.

Mehendi Ceremony

Festivities in an Indian marriage begin with the Mehendi ceremony. From the bride-to-be to all the females in the house gather together for a fun-filled evening/noon and adorn their hands with beautiful, flowers, birds, and abstract henna design patterns. One of the most important and fun pre-wedding ceremonies in Indian marriages. The mehndi was an intimate affair held at the same venue as the Haldi. Decorated with embellished umbrellas and bright blossoms, the event had a breezy vibe. The night began with the ladies’ sangeet followed by dance performances by the bridesmaids. After that, Mayank took over the DJ. Mayank also got a unique henna design on his hands. Kiren selected a perfect pink lehenga paired with a statement maang tikka, and earrings complemented Mayank’s crisp mint green printed kurta with a bright pink pocket square.

Sangeet And Cocktail Party

The couple decided to merge the sangeet and cocktail party. The party was held at the Galaxy Banquet Hall. A proper sit-down dinner for 500 guests with an open bar was arranged. Beautiful lights, loud music, and a dedicated dance floor set the mood perfectly. The decor included pieces of caricature taken from the invitation cards and were transformed into large size cutouts with beaming light bulbs. Kiren was looking beautiful in a golden gown which she wore with a statement necklace. Mayank opted for a teal sherwani.

Marriage Ceremony

Both of them got married at the Guru Nanak Darbar, on 2/2/20. All groomsmen and bridesmaids wore matching attire. The bride’s brothers and uncles also decided to wear the same outfit. Mayank’s turban was tied by his best friends which meant a great deal to him. The Anand Karaj was held in both Punjabi and English for all to understand the significance of the four laavans taken by the couple. The most noteworthy moment for the bride was when her mother performed her ‘Palla’ ceremony which was performed by a prominent male figure in the family. Her mother raised her single-handedly and played a major role in shaping the woman she is today. Kiren’s dreamy Lavender lehenga was simple and elegant. She accessorized her outfit with a statement necklace encrusted with baby pink gemstones. Mayank’s outfit too was on the minimalistic side with a lilac shawl and turban with gold accents. The ceremony was followed by a lunch, a photoshoot with the bridal party, and a farewell dinner at Setia Eco Ballroom, Templer’s Park Selangor.
